Nearly finished! One little problem when going up hills (both slight and steep) there is a bit of loss of power, surging forward once I level off or open her up. It just sounds funny like a misfire and sounds boggy. I think the air screw needs more tweaking. My question is, air screw in or out? I have no idea considering last time I ballsed it up haha does this sound like a rich problem? I don't know whether to go out or in with the screw. Thanks again.
Sounds like it's lean, just come out an eighth of a turn. Anti clockwise, same as when you turn a tap on & it lets out more water, same thing. Is it the same when you drop down through the gears & raise the revs? Leads & or plugs will show up as a breakdown under load like going up hills. I think you've got that covered now after your adventure so far.
Yup I was thinking out just a tad. It happens regardless or gear or revs, its when I'm on just a little bit of the throttle maintaining speed up hills. Everywhere else on flats it revs without hesitation at all. Will adjust the air screws, thanks.
Welp, adjusted the screws to 2.75 turns out. Seemed to help but going up a relatively steep hill trying to hold 6k rpm the bike sputters a lot and makes no power. Thing is, right after the hill levels off to a stop sign, the bike sounds like it's going to die and I had to rev to keep it conking out. Idle was very rough, revved it a **** load and took off and then pulling into a carpark the bike idled fine! Not sure where to go from here haha
I should think not! haha litetek kit done in the last 6 months and carb cleaned a few weeks ago. not sure if trolling haha
Please please please take a photo of your fuel filter for me ! Also I would check all of your vacuum lines for splits and the fuel tank breather your tank might be creating a vacuum and not letting fuel through, lastly float heights. The reason for me believing this is the hill issue, when your bike is on an angle going up hill the fuel in your carbs would be at a different level, your main jet goes a lot deeper into the float bowl then the pilot jet, hence why it won't idle. So either way there isn't enough fuel in the float bowls.

Mmk will keep that in mind Tim, revs nice everywhere else though, just not under load uphill with the throttle barely open. I'm starting to think it's the pilot screws again I might try 3 turns out. It's been trial and error so far regarding them. I did adjust float heights when I pulled the carbs as a few were at 20mm, all are now with in given specs (13 +-2mm) so that may be an issue. Should I make them all like 15mm or something along that way. I looked up a diagnosis of lean/rich scenarios and it does sound like a lean issue. Gonna work on it now, will let you guys know how it goes.
The thing should run up any hill, should accelerate at 6k rpm. It does sound like too full float bowls. Probably the first thing to check. What are the diaphrams under the caps like, check the holes that suck the slides up are clear, it's not related but you never know. Hard to know if it's rich or lean now & at a distance. Coughing & spluttering & backfiring is rich &lean is like a silent death nothing when you wind it on a bit. You can try pulling the choke on while it's happening & if she responds then it's after fuel & in your case it'll be sucking air somewhere, unlikely a carby setting as you've set it well. If there's no change then it's rich or flooding & set the floats a bit lower so they shut off earlier, just go a mill or two past the factory setting then if it works you won't have to pull them all apart to bring them back if you go too far. Remember it's vital not to let the little spring loaded pin compress when you are setting them or your settings will be way out, be ever so delicate & get them just perfect.

Hey so bit of an update. More details on the flat spot after changing pilot screws to 3 turns out: On the highway doing higher revs, say anything over 6krpm, with the throttle just cracked open slightly maintaining speed if I snap the throttle open quickly the bike will lose power and go boggy before recovering. There is no noticeable boggy spot if I roll on the throttle smoothly. So I replaced the fuel filter with a nice new one, made no difference. Next step I'll take is a carb sync just to be sure about the carbs and then if that doesn't help I'll pull the carbs and double check float heights.
