Hello everybody. I'm a 61 year old male who got a licence in 1971 but been off a bike for 20 years. Just bought a Venox 250 and it's a great bike. I don't remember my old Yammi 500 being much faster. Decided not to get back on a mid-sized (650 class is my favourite) straight away as I'm older (sigh), 5 ft 3 in and 58 kg. Would hate to be embarrassed getting stuck in town unable to manhandle my bike backwards uphill from a parking spot! Looking forward to talking to other riders in Oz.
Welcome back to two wheels! Ive heard good things about the Venox and they look and sound a lot bigger than the motor in them! Got any pics of your bike? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Will have to take some. Mine is stock standard but it is made with a bit of bulk. Looks more like a 500-650 size. Motor puts out 28 bhp which makes it surprisingly fast. will post as soon as. Thanks for the welcome.
Some nice saddlebags and she'll make a good grocery getter and weekend trips! I nearly bought one of them myself a while ago but got a $500 deal on a 93 virago (xv250) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
just commuting for now. takes 20 minutes off my cross city trip to work. virago is my favourite bike. did look at a vstar 650 but caution got the better if me
I was 15+ years off two wheels until last year. Never got past my L's first time around, finally got my P's earlier this year!
Yeah I'm a little younger than you If I'd got past my L's the first time around I wouldn't have had P's at all - for a car or a bike!
Welcome mate. Enjoy the bike. Nothing better than cruising down your favourite road or track on a good bike.
Thanks. Traffic has changed. I can't believe how many drivers I pass who are not looking at the road! Riding is not as carefree as it used to be. I remember when a motorcycle cop and I had a drag race through Vic park at 1 o'clock in the morning. It was 1972 - different days. Thanks. Working on it. Thanks. I'd forgotten how good it feels to be free of a cage. Thanks. I'm (just) SOR in Belmont - 5 minutes to the city but no parking in Perth. So much for encouraging less traffic!
and you above statement is why i don’t ride on the road any more. I’m still only young....ish but i got away from bikes for 10 years after a friend was ran off the road into a pole, i returned to bikes but only on the track, i don’t fancy playing Russian roulette with the drivers in Perth. i'm in burswood
Hi all My bike. I can understand that. Two people I rode with were killed in accidents when I was riding in my youth. I guess I'm prepared to take a calculated risk in my second childhood. The wife gets nervous about me riding but luckily she loves going on the bike too so it's not too bad.
I haven't taken a photo of mine yet but this is a stock photo. I've put a sissy bar on so I don't lose the wife off the back.
Good for you mate. W.A. has some great spots to explore, a trip down Margaret river way sounds like a great getaway. Enjoy your ride, it's not called calculated risk, it's called exhilaration and there is no better feeling. Oh, nearly forgot, to the forum.
Thanks, Phil. Been looking at all the forums around for the last couple of months and this one just looks better than the rest. Being focussed on a particular class seems to make a difference - there's no bullshit. Looking forward to a long association with the forum.
