bunnings have a grey 2 pak that is durable. you throw blue plastic flakes on 2nd coat. do not mix both tins together as instructions say. i threw a lot away.
We have already done the main garage in the DyMark Solvent based (2 pak) in charcoal... it would have taken 2 kits but because the floor had been painted and we didnt want to grind it all back we used the Rustoleum Recoat Primer and managed to only use one full kit so we have some experience. For the back garage I am considering using the Water based Dymark kit in Slate Grey... Charcoal will be too dark in that small space. https://www.dymark.com.au/categories/protectivedecorative/decorative/epoxycoatwb This is the main garage. It makes such a difference over an ordinary concrete floor...
A bit more done tonight.... After work I went out and mopped (yes... mopped) the floor as it was filthy. No amount of sweeping or blowing with a leaf blower was going to clean the floor. Some areas came up better than others but it is for all intents now clean. I then set about making sure it is waterproofed (at least the floor anyway) by using an exterior grade waterproofing sealer. I put it on nice and thick and made sure there were no pinholes etc... Next step tomorrow is to use the recoat Primer... ready for the epoxy to go on Wednesday afternoon. It will then have until Saturday to dry and be ready to start placing some stuff in there. It works out as I am in Melbourne from Thursday night and coming back Sat morning... the joys of it.. Then Mudgee next week and Port Macquarie the next... cranking up the km on the Santa Fe now I have it back... for a little while anyway. About half the floor is clean here. I have just swapped to 2 buckets as 1 just wasnt working... lol All clean enough to lay down on... that is what was coming next. This is what settled out after I dumped the rinse water. The waterproofing sealer going down. Finally finished the waterproofing... Yep... that floor is actually clean... I was down there and it is squeaky clean... Another episode tomorrow...
Tonights installment... Coated in Rustoleum Recoat Primer.... some parts dry quicker and where it is bare concrete it soaks in a bit... but it got a very heavy coat. Now to wait until tomorrow night for the epoxy and then the magic happens.... Sprinkles
Another episode in the great Garage Adventure.... Perfect conditions this afternoon to do the Epoxy Coat... having used the Solvent based before and now the water based I would only ever use the solvent based stuff... the water based goes off very quickly. This pack was meant to be for a single garage, 18 Square metres so a 6 x 3 which is pretty much what I have there... but if you were going over bare concrete it wouldnt have been enough. We just had enough... JUST..... Lucky we had more sprinkles as the amount they give oyu in the pack is only a very light covering... and they really cover up all the imperfections. Now to let it dry for a few days before I start to put everything back in... and my racking supplier got in touch today.. he is back in business after having his yeard 1 metre deep in the recent floods in Shepparton. Hopefully he has some 2591 beams I can get.
Looking good. It will be a shame to put your machinery back in there just to drop oil and **** all over it.
Nah….it’s epoxy so oil won’t hurt it and it should be easy to keep clean. Besides, other than the ride on mower the bikes are all mostly rebuilt now so no muck etc to drop
Today was the big day to see if my existing racking workbench would fit in this garage space... And with millimetres to spare... it fits.. I cant do any more now till next weekend... I have cabling to run for the electrics, LED's to provide lots of light and then start sorting the rest of the crap out.... lol
So this is where the magic happens, a little corner of my workshop. (Where my Scissor Lift was parked)
I will put another couple of mine up.... once I finish it. Running electrical at the moment. I bought some foam sections cut for the trimdeck roofing to seal it up and try to eliminate dust... but Old mate that built the shed (Dodgy Bros inc) didnt run a purlin along the bottom edge so there are no screws in the roof at the bottom so nothing to hold the foam in place. I am going to see if I can wedge a timber batton hard up against the wall that I can attach to the roofing sheets, then the foam strips will do what they are menat to do.. Adding to that there are no flashings around the roller door at all... so I will need to get them as well... the joys of living with other peoples poor workmanship.
Come on guy's , surely all of your she'd aren't that bad . Surely i don't have to show my shed with it's commercial grade carpet in place . Yes i know , i'm touched in the head , who else vacuum's the garage . Why ? hasn't even have carpet down to keep the tyre's off that cold cement either , plus the bike's aren't even covered over to keep the dust off them.
