Yes that thought did cross my mind .... flat out and stop :D

And the motor will of course have minimal run time while at a drag meet :thumb_ups:

What are bearings like? Is there longitudinal movement? Sorry you are having a bad run with the bike

    Seems ok in that aspect

I would like to remove even just the impeller to obviously replace it , but to also see how much crap/corrosion is behind it ..... but then if the impeller is corroded onto the shaft and the threaded tip of the shaft snaps off , then its all over red rover

Does the impeller spin on that rubber seal ?

@kiffsta can u post up a pic of the back of the impeller ? :)

Chillax Chief. I've seen ZXR water pumps that make that thing look pristine. As long as none of those broken off metal bits went through the cooling system, you should be fine. Someone, at some stage, has been a little 'rough' in there for those to break like that (my opinion). If you want to keep that impellor and you're worried about more metal coming off that broken vein, just grind it down to the base. As Murdo said, you're drag racing it, so won't make too much difference.

I've never seen a shaft seal (49063) fail. The impellor shaft is pretty well sealed from the water pump, so the chance of water getting into the sump is low.

If you get those newer bits from Chris, then you might want to also get a new seal (92055A) too.

Anyone tried a Chinese rocker cover gasket?

No, but I just might order one to see how they compare. Thanks for the link

Freight is the killer from Impex at the moment...same as from Megazip, Only DHL or Fedex currently.

I didn't know that. I have the option of EMS.

I ordered some stuff from Megazip and it gave the option of EMS but if then changed to DHL when placing the order. The same with Impex. Only issue was Impex didn’t list the parts I wanted for some reason. They are normally much cheaper than Megazip

I've decided to fit an electric water pump to my project. I've gone for a Davies Craig EBP15 the same as on my scooter. On the project I will wire it to the fuel pump circuit. I'll put a little cap over where the water pump currently is on the end of the oil pump. Just another option to consider
