Registered my zxr yesterday , bolted the plate on and went to roll it out of the garage and the brake lever went to the grip , aregghhhh fitted a spare master cylinder and bled or up, by then it too late for a ride , hopefully get it out this arvo
Test ride finally done. Grinning from ear to ear , it rode really well, but I have a few things to sort out , Speedo seems to be out , I was riding in 80kpm traffic and the Speedo was over 100, certainly felt like 80 to me. Will get my wife out and follow her at 60, 80 and 100 and see if it’s out. There is a slight throttle hang , but hot damm it felt good to be back on a screamer
now I have to repaint my wheels, I traded for a fairing kit , this scheme is next level cool Moto went in yesterday exhaust is on, but I need a oem muffler Has anyone got an oem mc22 exhaust they would sell
One 6mm allen screw hopped into the wrong hole (all by itself ) the accused was 4mm too long for the available space & cracked the case, for what seems like to 100th time, the bottom adaptor plate & OEM plate was removed & the split crankcase portion was pushed out with a finger, it's 1mm thick in this region. I'll make an alloy / JB weld / alloy sandwich & screw it in place, being careful to make room for the offending bolt to clear, then make Viton gasket #5,,,,,
Glanced at the piles of parts on the healing bench, as I broke a sweat getting to the other side of the garage for non-moto things. I told myself "you really need to get that project finished up, and invest in air conditioning if you intend to get it done before winter." Healing bench is so packed I'm tempted to flip the mattress off of the day bed in the guest room and use it as a staging ground.
good news, it is alive , albeit on 3 cylinders. Carb clean to come. It is going under a sheet for a while as it is going to be a few weeks before my tank gets painted I am so tempted to fit the fairings, but I want to keep them clean and dust free. Plus it will free up the lift and I can see if my latest acquisition runs, a 1979 GS850G, I have been secretly hoping that @Suzukititan would sufficiently fall in love with his new Kawasaki Z900RS and sell me his GS1100GK, but alas I think he likes his GS1100 more I will be selling a kidney to fund this resto, this kidney had a fair workout in my teens and 20's, this tapered off in my 30's and now rarely processes any alcohol, except for Friday night beers at the shed ( all are welcome) or the odd beer after mowing the lawn because I earnt it.
I must not buy another bike. I must not buy another bike. I must not buy another bike.... Well, it isn't a bike....
Had my first ride today for this year! Out on my Hyosung sv250 taking it for a MOT done about 10 miles she felt great! The balance on these things is superb its rapier like in its handling Got to sort out the insurance again I have a rider policy but I am only riding the hyosung this year All the best to you all Trev
Finally sold the full exhaust system for the '11 CBR250R I used to own (assuming buyer shows up this evening.) Not sure what $50USD will get me for the 250RR, but the money will go to good use I'm certain.
Done the tax and insurance on the hyosung today Insurance we I could not believe it the company I have been with wanted £300 plus went to another insurance company got it for £80 It does not pay to be loyal ! Beware lads and look around Last year because of travel restrictions I did not do 100 miles the cost as dearer than running Concord per mile travelled But as I stated earlier the thrill of biking has to be experienced to be believed Keep safe Trev
Yeah. The loyalty thing is not just with insurance. There seems to be no respect whatsoever these days for long standing customers. It really annoys me when your current provider of a service openly advertises blindingly good deals for new clients but will not extend the same to existing ones. I left a supplier of 20 years for exactly that reason.
Good find Kiffsta. Yes, Still love my GS1100G, Recently got my new stator and reg-rec from your recommended supplier in UK. I am warming to the Z900 RS now, but it needs a shaft, a more comfortable seat, and twin pipes!
Interesting day, I broke some 2 of my golden rules today, but in a good way let’s take this back about 8 weeks or so, I popped out too @James Mclaren storage shed to check out his bike collection. I got to have a look at his nc35 rvf400 which was last on the road and running 12 years ago. While I was there I removed the inspection cover and checked to make sure the engine wasn’t locked up. Good news it spun freely. fast forward to today, James brought me his rvf400 to get running , normally if I had a bike that hadn’t run in 12 years I would pull the plugs, strip and clean the carbs, change the oil etc, do a compression test , replace the plugs , gets the coils etc then try and start it, I half heatedly said, let’s see if she fires up …. I checked the oil which was at a good level and still looked mid brown so I hooked up a jump pack, hooked up my trusty sauce bottle containing fresh fuel, blocked the vac port. Jim knows I detest using start ya bastard and asked if we should use some, normally I’d say no, but thought let’s have a crack we cranked her over and she coughed a bit so we added some starting fluid and after a couple more cranks and she fired up on 3. Plenty of smiles all around and we upped the idle a bit and let her warm up , eventually the 4th pot fired up and she purred all 4. For the first 10 mins or so, she blew a very small amount of smoke, but cleared her head and idled nicely and revved cleanly to 8000 rpm once she was up to temp. #stoked This bike like this is a testament to Honda’s engineering , such an amazing machine. James has some major plans to build this up as a very original nc35 to match his mint nc30, now he knows it has a healthy motor, let the rebuild begin. Massive amount of job satisfaction today , even if I didn’t clean the carbs and used that evil start ya bastard stuff time for James to start a build thread anyone got a stash of rvf parts, he is are going to need headlight, tail light, sub frame , rear infill panels, air ducts etc in order to undo the tyga fairing conversion
Picked up this old girl , 1980 z250a , all there but been sitting for ages if anyone is interested in a resto project bike , PM me, I am in Brisbane
Bought myself another bike today. I also have put the 1975 CB409 up for sale ( I just don’t have the time to restore it) and sold the bike lift. Now I just need to sort out my “L’s” during the week and I can start getting used to the CB400 Vtec Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
