Thanks to @kiffsta for this one, should be a good little bike once it arrives from QLD.

In the mean time I am after any information, know how or tips & tricks about these late model bandits.

There isn't a GJ77A manual in the resources section... I happen to work for a Suzuki dealer so I will see what I can dig up.

    The bandit was delivered today.

Checked it over quickly while I was on lunch, runs very smoothly for its age and kilometres. Will be going into work on saturday to have a proper check of some specific things, already got a list made of stuff I want for it, ahh the joy of getting parts at cost price :D

Be nice to see a baby bandit up and running with some decent compression. Keep it coming :) Are you going to put an OEM seat on it?

Have to ride it first and see if the seat is any good.

In other news, I found an identical bandit for sale for very cheap with a bad gearbox, I'm thinking I'll snap it up for spares.

    Got the skirts off.

Definitely got variable valve timing, from what I know it's only variable lift and only on the inlet cam.

    IMG-0683.jpg

Airbox off, interesting that have the cutouts to match the carbs

    IMG-0685.jpg

    IMG-0684.jpg

Pulled a needle to check what anti rattle arrangement they have, and for wear, pleased to report none.

    IMG-0687.jpg

    IMG-0688.jpg

Going to spring for a set of tyres, brake pads and chain/sprockets.

    IMG-0689.jpg

After all that, I just spent some time pulling every electrical connector apart and checking for damage or corrosion, only found the reg/rec plug corroded so cleaned it up. New globe for the number plate light, new headlight globe, clean and greased all the lever pivots and so on.

Put it all back together, got a blueslip from work, and it will be ready for rego in the next week or so :)

So as it turns out, this bike is an Aussie delivered GSF250VY. The VIN range starts at 0010001, this bike is 0010022.

I had a brief look at work's suzuki resources but could not even find this model listed... the search continues

    I have found a few leads regarding the elusive GSF250V (Japan 1995 onwards) / GSF250VY (Australia '99/'00)

The first is a service manual for a GSF400VV '97 Bandit which describes the mechanism in detail. I've added it to the non-250 resources and tagged it with GSF250V.

    https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/1997-suzuki-bandit-gsf400vv-service-manual.390/

Secondly, there are Japanese service manuals available on Yahoo Auctions Japan, though they are pricey, I plan to buy one after I get the bike registered and translate the relevant pages.

Thirdly, I will see if work has a hard copy english service manual for the bike at our other location, given it is an official import.

No hardcopy manual available - looks like buying a Japanese one and translating it will be the only way.

How does it feel to ride compared to the ZXR, and when do the P's go away?

More 'everyday' oriented rather than sporty focus... and the seat is shocking, it has to go ASAP

December for the P's to be done - finally... I can certainly not recommended becoming a 'disqaulified' rider... I had done 19 of 24 months on the green P's, only to lose all the progress because the beaurocracy dictated it so.

I don't trust charging systems very much any more - every bike I will ever have from now on will get a battery tender lead and sit plugged in when not in use.

Short commutes slowly drain it down over a few months, too... takes about 30 mins of running just to recover the energy lost from starting the bike.

Speaking of which, it starts first go every time, the choke works as expected, there are no special rituals to perform :)

Good news for 'V' model bandit owners. I have managed to obtain some official Suzuki data, but no service manual yet. PDF's have been added to the resources section and again tagged with 'gsf250v'

    Specs: https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/gsf250vy-specifications.391/

    Periodic Maintenance: https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/gsf250vy-periodic-maintenance-chart.392/

    Service Data: https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/gsf250vy-service-data-sheet.393/

    Wiring Diagram: https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?resources/gsf250vy-wiring-diagram.394/

I changed the oil and filter on the bike today... runs a bit better.

Got tyres, chain/sprockets, brake pads, air filter, and fork seals waiting to go on, probably this weekend.

#4 bowl has had a JB-weld repair but still leaks... tweaking the screw makes it worse... teflon tape didn't help.

    Was planning on buying one
