Got a set of carbs with my junk engine and I prefer to use them instead of my restored set which will go on the rebuilt engine when the time comes . Issue is that the engine is a C model (not a big deal) and the carbs are also from a C BUT the jetting is from an A model and the jet needles are n76x which are apparently from a balius... someone had also set the pilot screws to 1.25 out (to compensate I'm guessing). This mismatch is making it run like dog **** . So my question is does anyone have a set of complete A model carbs or n76b jet needles. Also need the 2 t pieces and a few screws ?
Tony, C model carbs use N76U, N76V or N1QW (C4-C7 engines) needles. You might get away with N76X needles if you have the right main jets and new emulsion tubes. I'm no expert, but I think the last character on the needle code is the taper at the very end; U & V are close to X, so might be okay.
Good point . Are the emulsion tubes actually different. They have no markings on them and I haven't noticed if the amount of holes change Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
I also accumulated a set of B model needles . No 32mm carbs unfortunately Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
No, the tubes are the same. I just find new ones eliminate a possible issue for rough running. B model needles...do you mean N76A & N52X?
Thought the zxr didn't have issues with emulsion tube and needle wear. Yup n76a and n52x Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Agree. I haven't ever found an emulsion tube or needle that looked damaged or inoperable, but the tubes are readily available, so I change them when doing a full rebuild. Which reminds me, @GreyImport I still have your rebuilt ZXR carbs. I was going to bring them up for Gunnedah and then Casino, but I won't get up there until next Gunnedah race. Do you need them before then?
