Will I blind myself while riding if I leave my tank brushed and just clear coat over the top? IMG_1701.jpg

I didn't have any key for my bike when I got it, I ordered two key blanks from ebay - disassembled the ignition lock and filed one side of the key so that it worked then took both blanks to bunnings and got them to cut the remaining the second key and the remaining side on the first

If you've got a new tank cap you can do the same except shuffle the inserts to get it close then file them so suit the main key.

If you've got three good barrels, they may be able to switched into new fittings once you've got the key made

The guy who tried to steal the bike very kindly took a screwdriver to my ignition barrel so it’s completely useless and this seemed to be comparable in price to replacing that, plus it’s one less key to carry.

    Alrighty folks,

Strata has just informed me that my project bike dreams are dead and I have to get rid of it.

So if anyone would like to gain the following:

All the parts to make an FZR 250 2kr 1989 (minus mirrors and indicators)

3ln fork with front wheel and full 3ln loom

    2kr engine with carbs

    All shrouds

    Very rusty set of carbs

    Very rusty 3ln manifolds

    3ln swing arm and shock

    Other bits and pieces

Looking for $500?? Or any donation to go towards something that’s already put together and runs.

I’d like to get rid of all of it at once if possible, what ever I still have By the 15th I’ll probably just have to take to a wreckers.

Sorry if this isn’t allowed please let me know if it isn’t and I’ll take it down.

If you're working in your own vehicle space strata may be out of bounds - check with both the estate agent and the tenants union before you abandon things

What's the possibility of getting it partially re-assembled before the 14th December?

All rental Leases state that you are not allowed to to carry out repairs to any motor vehicle on the premises.. says he with a Garage full of equipments and several bikes undergoing restoration :) But... they dont inspect my garage when they do their inspections.. A Unit is an entirely different matter as normally it would be a caged section so it is in full view and probably there has been a complaint made to the Strata board.. not much can be done unfortunately unless you find a cheap Storage unit to move it all to.

Still I'd check that it explicitly states that in the lease and on the topic of strata laws if they aren't correctly registered they are neither legal nor enforceable - check here - by-laws and rules

    https://www.tenants.org.au/factsheet-13-strata-scheme-tenants

If he hasn't been given a copy of the owners corporation by-laws then they are also in strife

It may not be worth picking a fight over, but it might also be better not to get pushed around

It is a standard clause in all residential leases be they for houses or strata titles... and as a tenant you have no say in the Strata scheme so it isnt relevant.. if you have signed the lease then you agree to the terms of the lease.. they are a standardised document and have pretty much every aspect covered.. and yep.. it certainly wouldnt be worth the fight.
When you rent... you take the risk if you are doing stuff like we do. I would be screwed if they saw what I am doing.. lol

I know nothing of this strata crap, but if the motor is out of it, why couldn't it be a restoration of a sculpture and considered an art project? An FZR250 is sure prettier than some other 'art' that I've seen! Just hang it on the wall. When the motor is done, set it in the living room with a piece of Lexan on top and it's a coffee table.

I'm thinking that if you get the frame sandblasted (if you're going to) and primed, then painted, the rest is re-assembly to get it to having wheels on, once it's like that I'd tell them it's a motor vehicle

Put what you are able to out of sight in boxes.

BTW ask to see the strata laws and check that they are registered, it might not win it for you, but it may buy you some time.

If their demands are legal you can also say that you've taken appropriate steps to re-assemble the bike now that you know, try negotiating with that action of good faith on your part.

There may just be one disagreeable asshole causing you issues, had that far too many times in the past - rue is there is always one in every unit block.

Is the bike stored outside of your parking area in a common area?

At this point I’m more interested in getting my lease renewed rather that keeping the bike.
So I don’t want to ruffle any feathers over the issues.

Yep, that's why I asked if it's on common property or in your own car space and if you can get it re-assembled in the time you have been given.

What I'm feebly trying to get at, is what do you plan to do, if you need the frame painted to be able to re-assemble - forks back on, swing arm back on, wheels on, motor in etc...

If you can get the frame painted I can swing down evenings next week to help get those parts done quickly - bring tools, have torque wrenches, paddock stands etc so it's done properly, then you can attend to the cosmetics over time and not piss anyone off.

I'm only two suburbs away, so if you need a hand I'll pitch in and we can get it done

You will find you will get next to nothing at the wreckers unfortunately.. do you have any friends or family that will leet you store it and work on it.. or possibly look at a cheap storage facility where you can keep it and assemble it!
I do hope you find a good solution as it would be a real shame to see it all go to waste but I agree that its not worth the drama of having to find new digs and the associated costs that go with it..

That’s a really generous offer thank you! But at this point I just want to be done with it, I think I’m just going to buy something that’s already running, I crunched the numbers and anything round 7k will pay its self off in the first year considering what I’d be paying in fuel and parking.

If you’d like to come scavenge anything before I take it to the wreckers you’re more than welcome.
