So, it's not road registered (needs Engineers Cert), but he's done 1,000km on it. Did he race it? And, I wonder what "fettling" it needs done?

"The bike will need only minor fetteling to be a rider again and it will need a engineer cert which costs about $150"

While this is one of the "better looking" so called Cafe Racer builds I have seen I have to wonder at the sense of ABS delete on a road bike... or any bike to be honest... OK.. there are arguments that the overall braking distance is slightly longer with ABS in perfect conditions but in an emergency braking situation with only 2 wheels.. and large brakes I think I would always defer to ABS vs deleting it..

Fugly, but the ABS delete is because it would cost a couple of thousand to get it fixed. Common problem of that era BMW's.

I think the seat will work if you put somebody on it, maybe. . .

There's been plenty of weird drag bikes over the years. Not sure how the steering "worked" on that bike? Seems like a point&shoot vehicle.

    Other oddities...

I guess this is the FED (Front-Engined Dragster) version of a drag bike. These people are a lot braver than me.

Not sure about the steering, don't think countersteering would really work either, there's not much lean angle available with the low frame at the rear

There used to be some jet powered Go-Kart's that raced in Sweeden year's ago,
they ran the 1/4 mile in close to 4 second's, but they were banned as the driver's passed out for 2 second's or more due to excessive G force's.

Interesting - I wondered about that g-force limit, not sure if the top fueller bikes are capable of sufficient acceleration to do that currently, the top fueller cars are doing sub 4 seconds, but the flow of blood would be from their feet towards the torso likely not challenging their blood pressure adversely to make them lose consciousness - big risk though

I think those Go-Karts were rocket powered. There was also rocket-powered dragsters and Funny Cars (Sammy Miller link below - 3.58 seconds at 386.26 mph in 1984). I thought they were banned because they were unsafe (even for drag racing!). A Top Fuel Dragster or Top Fuel bike can only accelerate as fast as their tyres will let them. It's about 5G on acceleration and about 4G under braking. Braking feels worse because of the Net affect. Joe Amato (Top fuel driver) had to quit racing because his retinas detached under braking.

Wow...that's effed up right there! That's only a bees dick slower than the quickest/fastest Top Fuel dragster in 1973.

These g-forces are more about strain on organs/tissue/brain, as opposed to fighter-pilot blood drain issue. Feet toward can drive up the blood pressure and cause ruptures, too, like blood-noses. My 2cents

Yes they are well into the physiological demands placed upon of fighter pilots and astronauts - that Sammy Miller record is just mind blowing

Shane is correct. The human body was never built to work in a high Positive G (gravity) environment. Negative G forces drive blood to the head, so the brain can continue to function (even if you have a blood nose). The human heart pumps blood to and from all parts of the body. It does this against gravity. Physical exertion uses energy and muscles need more oxygen (carried in the blood) to fuel this, so the heart pumps faster. "Fight or flight" response uses Adrenaline to further aid the body to get oxygen to muscles in greater quantities and to restrict blood to less important organs. For any of you still playing at home, the human body has a normal blood pressure of 120/80 which means jack to most of us, so in more mechanical terms, this equates to about 2.3psi/1.5psi and the heart normally pumps 6 litres of blood per minute. Increasing positive G on the body stops blood getting to your brain. Even standing upright (not using any muscles) for long periods of time does this. A race car driver will rarely experience G forces that will restrict blood flow to the brain. Pilots experience this all the time when turning their planes. Some years back, the American Indy Car show went to a banked circuit they'd never raced at before. The banking on one of the corners was greater than other circuits and the radius was more severe. During practice drivers complained of "blacking out" in that corner and the race was cancelled. NASCAR races at that track, but those vehicles don't have any downforce and corner speeds were so slow that G forces were never a driver health issue.

Now, before the chief tells me to get back on topic, here is a video and some pics of the French nutter who runs a rocket bike. I think his best 1/4 mile time/speed is 5.2 & 281mph. Enjoy.

Oh, and yes @ruckusman that Sammy Miller run is unbelievable!
