Started pulling apart the bike today to start dealing with the rust on the frame. Got a couple of bolts that aren’t budging so I need to figure out what to put on them. Also found a few long cracks in my dash panel Thinking it might be easier to just replace it with a universal digital speedo And a few wires that are worn bare and look like there’s some scorch marks that I’m assuming are from the wires shorting on the frame. I also have a 3ln fork and rear swing that I’m hoping I’ll be able to put onto the 2kr frame... if this is even possible. At the end of the day I’m trying to get this up and running as quickly as I can an as cheaply as possible. And looking something like one of these Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The swingarms on the 3LN series are way overkill and you are just adding weight, same goes with fitting twin discs. You are just spending money for nothing.
I was only thinking about swapping the front forks because they are in a much better condition than the ones I have on there now As I pull this this apart it’s looking like a good mash up of parts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just pulled this off the rear wheel... doing to make and educate guess that it’s dead This is one out the the box of spares... looks like it’s still got some life left in it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Does anyone know what size socket I’d need for the main axle for the rear swing arm? It’s the last piece I need to get off before I can start painting the frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I won't assume it's the same size as a 3LN1, but I can check downstairs later today - I will have a socket the correct size which you're welcome to borrow as I'm in Narrabeen it should be easy to co-ordinate If you can put a ruler/tape measure across yours, I'll check in the toolbox - it will be 1/2 drive
Swing arm to frame. I was hoping a could do the dodgy and use a shift and some locking pliers but they won’t fit in the recess that the bolt is in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Awesome! I’ll check when I get home today. I’ll probably have to invest in my own anyway I just want to make sure I have the right size before I go buying some Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Check the diameter of the hole also, I have a vague memory of it being a tight fit and I had to lubricate the outside of the socket, I'll cross reference with the 3LN1
NO NO NO! Please use the right socket to save your skin and maybe the next person who has to take that nut off.
Guru Murdo is correct, besides I have a socket for you to borrow, it's 22mm and is an easy fit into the frame recess which is 32mm on the 3LN1
I just got home and and measure it up as best I could with my tape and those measurements look pretty spot on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe the fizzer is fairly common there, it's pretty rare here. I'd spend the $$, take the time, and put it together right. You'll be rewarded.
@ruckusman Just went to SCA and picked up a socket set with a 22mm, thanks for the help on that one. Now it’s time to clean and paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AAH - I was going to see about dropping one to you this weekend, sorry I couldn't the last two days, been out really early and back late
Has anyone else where run a rfid ignition on their bike? I couldn’t find an ignition set that had all 3 locks for the bike so instead I spent about $50 and got a pretty simple system put together. Once I swipe it on it stays on until I hit the kill switch, and once the kill switch has been hit I won’t start unless you swipe again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
