Hi Buddy. I have a spare complete pivot bolt / shim's /nut. It's in good condition too , as in the allen key section isn't damaged at all nice and sharp. Part's are on the way to you.
Just an update on the pivot bolt. Gary (@2valve) found a good one among his limited spares and it is on its way to me. I enquirer at Yamaha Retro Spares in Adelaide as they showed one on their spreadsheet at $18 and some change. So they reply today saying yes, they have 1 only in stock and it will be $30 or $40 opted to Sydney. WTF..... I will wait to see how the one from Gary looks ( should be good as he is OTT on quality) before throwing $$$ at a rip off mob like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
You've seen the price's on their bike's haven't you ? http://yamaharetrospares.com.au/product-category/retro-motorcycles/
To be honest I hadnt looked at them until just then... WOW. How on earth did they sell a K1 CB750 for $15K? I mean it looks nice but it will be mostly pattern parts.. maybe people in aus are not as fussy about restorations as they are in the UK. And $20K for a CBX... maybe my $40 bolt isnt over the top for them
My next big dilemma is “do I use 2pac clear on my rims or the Wheel clear coat I have? It will only be the painted surface that is clear coated. I also need to clear my fork lowers. I have them loosely wrapped in bubble wrap at the moment as I really don’t want to chip them lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
You could use KBS Diamond Finish and paint over the gunmetal and the polished alloy section's at the same time . It's designed to go over polished or raw alloy's etc, as well as painted finish's, from memory it's about $60 for 500ml's iirc https://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/how...guides/diamond-finish-clearcoat-instructions/ That way you'll never have to polish your rim outer's again. And i think you can get it in an aerosol too
Hmm. That stuff is interesting. Looks like it can be brushed on like POR15 too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
all i can say is i have over 20k in my cbx and more than 8750 in my bmwr65.those prices seem reasonable.
Received a little care package from @2valve today. It included a NOS gear shift pedal, a really good pivot bolt and the washers, nut to suit. I have only realized there should be an ignition barrel decal in there as well. I didn’t spot that so will have to have another look in the morning. Now I need to find a chrome player who can do my brake pedal to match the new gear change leaver I also need to sort out nuts, bolts and washers for all the little bits so I can get them cleaned up and nickel plated. Yes buddy the decal is there, it's in the heavy cardboard to protect it. Wrapped the lot in bubble wrap just to make sure that it arrived safely.
Oh, you mean the stuff I threw out? Haha, no I didn’t. I was more interested in seeing the lever and didn’t even look at the other bits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Yep , i do understand what you mean with the N.O.S gear lever. Comparing to what we have at the moment which is a bit sad.Hope that you'll be able to match the chrome up to the brake lever. I also will have to get some chrome work done , so will be interested in how you go and where you go.
For my money the blokes in Coffs Harbour are the best around. Last time there I saw parcels from South Aus, so they must be good for people to send stuff that far to them. Not the cheapest, but certainly good work. https://www.whitepages.com.au/coffs-chroming-pty-ltd-11440647/coffs-harbour-nsw-11440643B
I will remember that.. I could send my stuff up and then pick it up on a work trip up through there..I am not sure of any good ones here in Sydney. I know a good Hot Rod shop.. I might ask them where they get theirs done.
Andy, i was tidying up the other day and found my original Flywheel from the XT250, it weigh's 1.8kg but i think your's would be different as it's electric start only
I will see if I can grab a pic of mine sometime tomorrow.. but yes.. I am sure they are different.. mine has a gear on the backside if I remember correctly.
So, today I went out and checked out these new cams. I measured them up and they definitely have 0.5 mm extra lift so they are the 30X cams. It is a bit hard to see but the profile from the timing marks is different as well. Plus these are in great condition compared to the crappy ones from the 350 head. The next pics are of the flywheel from the SRX showing the back of it and the electric starter gear and the bearings. I also spent a couple of hours pulling the SRX6 ignition down and changing the switch plate with the SRX 250. I also changed over the lock plate in the flip up fuel cap so that I now have a full set of matching locks for ignition, fuel, seat and helmet lock. I pick up all my machining bits on Monday so I might even be able to trial assemble the triple tree to sort out the lock plate etc. I need to organize bearings for the crankcase / gearbox as well as gasket set for when I can start putting it back together again. That probably won’t be until December sometime now. As I have my knee replacement in just over a week and I doubt I will be be doing much for at least 5 to 6 weeks. Hope it won’t be that long but that seems to be the normal time frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
