I know this isn't bike related, but oil changes are important and there are some great ideas included in this video
Damn that thing must be putting out some serious torque...long swing arm, completely compresses rear suspension then the tire, then up and around it and the rider go's
While this isnt motorcycle related it is a really interesting look at the internals of a 1.5litre 1250 hp BMW F1 engine. Interesting to see how the bores are highly polished... purely for friction reduction, they were not too interested in longevity or oil consumption back then.. The crankcases for these engines were initially used 2 litre standard production units. They went for these as they were metallurgically stable after 100,000 kms of heat and cool cycles. The size of the turbo is amazing as well.. and the head work... looks like back then it was all hand finished. A far cry from the million $ engines of the current F1 scene.. and the MotoGP engines as well I guess.
I really hope this Race Circuit in SA gets good support... it looks mega on the Superbike... Imagine how it would look from a MotoGP bike... https://www.speedcafe.com/2018/04/04/video-bend-asbk-hot-lap/
They'll need some big track blower's for that place, it will get so dusty I guess once it start's getting wetter toward's the middle of the year some grass will grow and help
I am sure they will have arranged irrigation etc for the viewing areas so they can keep a covering of grass on there... first things first I guess... the track and pit complex is now complete. Its pretty ballsy to build a Motorsport complex like this anywhere so I hope it gets used plenty... The dust cant be any worse than the sand at Qatar or Bahrain and they seem to go OK.. Its a pity that private testing is banned in so many categories now... From the look of it... it would be a real Ducati circuit..
I hope it works out for them. Listened to Adelaide radio last nights motoring program http://streaming1.coastfm.com.au:8000/broadwavehigh.mp3 where they interviewed the head jockey from the Bend Motorsport Park and he was saying they had to dig down to get to a limestone base and then opened their own quarry (over behind the dragstrip) and crushing plant to make the fill so that it will be stable for years to come (the high cost of resurfacing was what has caused a few tracks to close over the years). The sand/soil on the edges has a strip of fake grass around the edges and has been sprayed with some binder (he didn't say what, greenies could be listening) to hold down the dust until the grass grows. They have motel rooms above the pits, camping areas and even an airstrip. They have built to suit every class except F1. They hope to get Moto GP next year. The same family company own Mallala and plan to revamp it in the future.

Much betterer. That place looks fantastic. Might have to go for a longish drive when they start drag racing there. Meanwhile, here a couple of nice restorations on ZXR250A and ZXR250C bikes
For lovers of High revving Honda's The oh so sweet RC166 being given some beans... And then there is this one... I love their startled faces when the bike first starts And how excited they get a points during the disassembly of a gorgeous RC166
Thanks Andy. Interesting that the gear driven camshafts are two piece, I had read that they had problems with torsional twist and making them two short pieces would help that, and the pistons only have a single compression ring (plus oil ring), the cam followers are in a separate piece to the head and check the size of the main caps. I wonder how many engines they destroyed before they got it right? If you look at what the poms had in 1966 racing against the RC166 then you will understand why it was so dominant.
