Bought shiny new (expensive :headbang:) gloves and they arrived just in time to be stolen by meth-heads 3 days after Xmas. Excellent.

Found these on clearance at Peter Stevens a couple of sizes too large, but full leather outers and cheap. I bought them and they arrived a couple of days ago. And then I spent a weird night sleeping with wet leather gloves on my hands. They now fit like...hmm...a glove...I guess. So, totally worth it?

Also, in a slightly infuriating state of affairs, when worn the studs are the wrong way up! Why, Five, why??

    My oil filter arrived!!

I mentioned in my project post that the filter was lost in shipping and I figured I'd have to start with another order, but the filter did show up with the packaging some what ragged but otherwise in good shape.

This started out with me searching for parts for the Slingshot that from here are very elusive. I've tried making contact with other possible owners in North America, and only one person responded, and as much as called me a liar when I described the bike. He wanted pictures to see.. I decided to purchase the filter from Megazip because I had used their parts lists as a reference tool while researching the bike, thinking they earned at least this much.
    - Dec. 7 order placed through E-Bay, MGZ confirmed order ($11.50 US), estimated delivery Dec. 29 / Jan. 11.
    - Dec. 7 PayPal confirmed payment.
    - Dec. 14 shipping confirmed
    - Jan. 14 I informed MGZ order lost based on tracking info they provided. 2 tries to get it out of Russia, 4 attempts to forward to proper address, and finally stalled out in a distribution center some where. Their tracking did not indicate any locations. E-Bay was monitoring our exchanges.
    - Jan 19 MGZ indicated their surprise, and blamed X-mas volume, I said I'd be patient.
    - Jan 22 MGZ again blamed carriers, refund will be issued while they search for it.
    - Jan 25 I told them to ship another, and promised if the original showed up I'd pay for it.
    - Feb 1 MGZ stated they could not ship another without another order ( suspect customs regs. and paperwork). They asked if it showed up would I let them know. I said yes...They confirmed a full refund was issued. E-Bay notified me a full refund was to be issued.
    - Feb 2 Paypal notified me a refund was issued to my account from MGZ. E-Bay confirmed the refund and stated the "case closed".
    - Feb 3 received notice that a parcel was ready for pick up at the dreaded "Canada Post" depot. I had no qualms about picking it up because of my previous training found on this site.
    - Feb 4 tried to make contact with Yuri at MGZ to arrange payment ( I have a conscience, and made a promise ) but at this time I have not received any indication they received my transmission.

Over all I was pleased with the results other than the time element. I was impressed with E-Bay ensuring my interests were protected, and since we are dealing with our Canadian winter I have nothing else to do other than stare at the snow, and the computer screen.

While all this was going on I did request a quote from WeMoto, but received no response. I have one of their key fobs on the bike, and thought I would give them an opportunity to quote, and was a little disappointed that they did not return a note.

If nothing else the oil filter was entertaining...

@Bab dealing direct with Megazip is much better. You can pay with PayPal so you still have the same level of protection and it is easy to communicate with them. I mostly use Megazip and they ship from Japan by EMS with full tracking. They don't have a cheaper option when I buy. https://www.megazip.net/ Speaking of the Canadian debacle another customer convinced me to try sending there again, we'll see what happens.

Thanks Maelstrom, for the tip. I'm a novice when it comes to buying on line, but did get the feeling MGZ were trying to make the best out of a situation that was out of their hands. I'll certainly give them the opportunity to sell to me again. I feel some allegiance to them simply because they were the first "accurate" parts catalogue / list I found for the Slingshot, and the amount of time I spent studying, and stealing their drawings.

Regarding their drawings, (or anyone's for that matter) anyone reading / working on a Slingshot, be careful. Compare the illustrations with what you have in hand closely, because I found discrepancies regarding the front break, and the air box.

Shipping to Canada is an issue I've noticed on different web sites, and vendors. I've asked the question before "What did we do to deserve this exclusion?" I've poked fun at the mail service here, but with our postal code system it is quite accurate ( I actually knew the person who was fundamental in the conception of it, as well as developing radar during its infancy, brilliant!).

I asked Suzuki Canada direct as to what their policy was toward OEM parts, and my failed attempt to support local, and domestic dealers pertaining to the Slingshot, but things got real quiet real fast. Then they wonder why the popularity of on line purchases is taking people out of their shops. The answer is simple...access!

Enough... I'm working myself up and into a rant.

Yes, I seen other websites, even in the UK, that have the Canada issue. As for rants, they are good, just think of them as venting bile.

The last time I vented bile was the result of consuming too much alcohol...

I have started to gather parts where possible for the CB400F and a couple of parcels arrived today.
The rear shocks I snapped up as the SW Shocks on the bike required the chain guard to be butchered and they run close to the chain as it is.. these are rated for larger lads (Me) and will fit without any mods to the chain Guard (I need to get me a new one of them too). They look reasonably period correct. Not sure what I will do with the SW's now.

I had noticed the kick stand on the bike was at a weird angle and when I looked into it further it wasnt even the correct kickstand and it has a very average bracket glued to the frame rail with blobs of stick weld. So The bracket is easy to fix as I now have a template of the correct one and I found some parts... including a kick stand in Tassie... so I ended up with the kick stand, Starter Solenoid, ignition block, seat lock, NOS grab rails and a headlight bucket... not a bad little haul...I wish I had been quicker and grabbed the kickstart level as well.. oh well I will find one somewhere.

I have been looking for a tail bag for my KLR650 to take on my trip to the Snowies next week. Ended up buying the Dririder explorer tail pack, very impressed with it. On special for $166 delivered from bikebiz!

Of course it arrived at work the day I took the CB250, doesnt fit too bad but looks a bit over the top haha. I could get 2 weeks of shopping in this thing! 20180227_163709-800x600.jpg
