I took the ZZR600 to Brisbane and back. In the back of a van... I was going to show a prospective buyer, but unfortunately he was unable to view it. So I dropped off a blue CBR and got some wet blasting done. I'll have to take photos tomorrow, but it came up a treat. Thanks @kiffsta
You can check your frame number against this list , if you need carb seals. I know a guy in Thailand... oh never mind
I have just dismantled the leather couch. Had a search on google for identifying leather and have worked out the stuff i have is 6oz / 2.4mm full grain leather. If i were to buy it new it'd be worth just over $100 per square metre and i have over 7.5 square metres of it to use. Thats more than a lifetime worth of bike seat covers for me i think, lol ! Plus all the foam and backing material etc
to be honest, not very well, I bought some rubber stoppers from Clark Rubber and capped areas where I didn't want to blast media to enter, they blew off even under a lower air pressure setting on the blasting machine. I have spent 6 hours cleaning them, blowing out every orifice ,a full Litetek kit put through, when I refitted them, it would not start and I found the plugs were pretty ordinary, I swapped out 2 then she fired and cleared her head and bang... a very healthy sounding CBR before After A vid of her running with no exhaust
Well they came up nice. You could spend six hours making some fixtures to seal them and then you could offer that to customers. Something like alloy plates with rubber seals etc. Like I did with my head. I used the silicone plugs you can buy on eBay for powder coating blanking. cheers
Yeah and the missus wont let me bring my welding gear indoors .....Sick of insurance adds and youtube is getting boring..though I see honda have a self righting motorcycle in development, kinda takes the fun out of it but hey at least us bikers wont be left out when it all go's self drive
I bought a 2nd hand fuel tank from Japan... it doesnt look too bad in terms of rust and not much in the way of ding repairs form what I could see... A$35 plus another $30 for the filler cap. This is from an SRX250 3WP. they are a lot different around the seat area and while I had considered modifying the 3WP seat to match the earlier tank the cost of the mods and special "one off" upholstery was going to be excessive... this may end up the expensive as well but it will be correct and that makes it easier in the long run. I also have my eyes on some CB400F parts from there as well.. there really isnt much 2nd hand over here and it is the sort of things you cant buy new anymore...
Looks like I might be one of the stupid ones who works on their bike in 42 plus heat... lol Didnt help me with the Across though... connected up the fuel line with an inline filter... kicked it over and after a second or 2 she fired and idled... a bit low on idle but nothing that cant be adjusted... and then it stopped.. wouldnt run... it would fire but wouldnt stay running... took the screws out to 2 turns from the 1.5 recommended.. nothing. tried to start it with brake clean.. (I couldnt find my 3 bond or start ya bastard) and it fired but still wouldnt run. might take the filter out in case it is not getting enough fuel and give it some fresh fuel tomorrow. I have a better time with the CB400... fitted up my Battery and then used the old screw driver across the starter solenoid terminals and low and behold... she idles nicely... revs crisply but it a little noisy in the cam chain... to be expected. Unfortunately closer inspection of my sinuous factory headers reveals they are stuffed... the number 4 pipe is dented in and deeply grazed where it has been laid down at some stage and the number 2 pipe has a large rust bulge / hole up near the head... Repro items are quite expensive so I might have to get the one repaired (sections cut out and new ones welded in) and re-chromed or look for a good 2nd hand set... I might have to turn to Japan.. Hopefully this video works... Cecil B DeMille I am not...
it's not a bad idea to check your camchain-tensioner, it's a manual one, if it will not move there is a chance you have to change it which is a total engine strip
