Bought an across for wrecking , I didn’t really need it as I have a fair bit of across stuff, but it seemed in good nick bar the panels so I grabbed it. The key was missing , the stator cover was necked, bent handle bar etc Spent today playing and after replacing the fuel pump she fired up and sounded quite good , replaced the stator cover with One from a bandit , replaced bent handle bar and broken clutch lever. I found some old fairings and have fitted them , she is almost back together. I will get a key cut on Monday Anyone chasing a cheap acrosss ?
@risky are you sure? I have a cheap one here that doesn’t need much for rego. $250 and it’s yours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Went and rode the old pacific hwy again, stopped to have a chat with the photogrophers and other riders... lost my p plate again, found another in the ditch behind from where the photo was taken. People crash there a lot, there's all sorts of goodies hiding in the scrub
spent the morning reassembling the carbies from the Across.. and I then find the dreaded worn slider issue on one of the carbies... so I cant start it up today... grrr. Still Carbies are back on the bike, pilot jets are set at 1.5 turns as per factory standard settings. I fuel filter is on the fuel line now so should be no blockages in the carby. Started sorting out the fairings to go back on... should have it all buttoned up ready to sell during the week (I hope). Time to make room in the Garage...
Yesterday I picked up this mc22 with spare motor, clutch kit and paddock stand for $500 It's not mine, though. I spent all my money on a pair of Acrosses... So I worked on a workbench to work on one of the Across. But it was taking to too long. So I fired up the zzr600, replaced the chain guard organised for a buyer to view in Gin Gin. Then dragged the red Across into the shed to see if it would start. After a bit of trying, spraying things in the intake I got it to fire and "run" sort of. But decided to stop trying when I noticed to pool of fuel growing on the floor. No shortcuts, got to clean the carbies. And the brakes, they aren't releasing properly.
Great to meet @Muzza yesterday and to give him a hand with his temperamental mc22 , replaced a dodgy coil lead and some carbs and she is now running like a bought one
Picked up an new/used leather seat for my FZR today, well sort of ?!? I will be using the leather from this seat on the FZR seat, and there's enough left for quite a few more. The couch is huge and is genuine leather, it's quite soft still, has a full grain pattern and it's thick as, fill's my 8x5 trailer and only cost me $35.
Great idea! I was looking at council clearance recently for a good bit of leatherage, but that will last you a lifetime!
