Sold it! The Across is gone. Good price, for a bike in need of work. Next is the vtr. Surely I couldn't sell the ZXR! There's the DR, and a couple of others, too. Waiting on parts........
Pit crewed for my son at a four hour 'pony express' event held locally. An 8.5Km course across paddocks, over big lumps, small hills, sawdust pits, lots of sharp corners and mudholes. Poor boy rode in the Ironman class and was so exhausted that when he pulled into the pits at the end I had to turn the engine off for him as he couldn't move to do it. Held the bike as he slid to the ground and lay still for about 15 minutes. Great effort as all his big talking mates went home after two hours.
Sold the NX650 and got the ZXR250 running again. Trying to decide what will be next for my daily ride. I'd really like another Street Triple but not sure if the budget will extend that far at the moment. Will have a look around and see what comes up.
I have visualised all the cool stuff I will be doing to the Balius when I back from my hol. Does that count ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They are the Ducati Monster copies. Not as much power as the spada, I hear they have a longer stroke so the torque is available down lower, makes for a good learner or commuter. Guess I'll find out next week. An aftermarket muffler would make it sound more Ducati, rather than cam chain/followers to let you know it's running. But then again, the DR has an aftermarket muffler and the noise can be too much after a while.
changed the crappy block connectors concealed in the headlight shell with proper Japanese style bullet connectors, got the indicators working properly and took it for another quick spin around the block to get the tickover right. Off to Canada tomorrow for a week to visit the oldies and hopefully get the bike registered when I get back.
The previous owner forgot to install the circlip on the piston correctly so I ended up buying a brand new cylinder and head, complete Wiseco bottom and and Wiseco top end too. I also bought OEM engine studs and near bolts for the top end too as last time I tried to torque down the head nuts I broke a stud! I just have to swap the lower triple clamp bearing over as the 03 CR250 now has a 2009 CRF450 fork, and the internet tells me the bearings are slightly different! Once that is done I can wire it up, install the pipe and give it a test! I've never heard this bike run before, so I have no idea if there's more issues at hand.
I got the CR250 going! Last night I torqued down all the cylinder and head bolts which basically left the radiators and hoses left to hook up, and a few bits and pieces. I noticed there was a plug in the silencer today and thought "I should remove that before I forget and try and start it". When I went to start it there was smoke billowing out of all joins in the exhaust. Turns out this bike was so eager to start that it ran anyway, with the exhaust plugged! Anyway, runs pretty good. Heaps of compression too, hopefully I can start it on flat ground.
There's been a red SRX600 popping up on Gumtree Adelaide over the last 6 month's or so for $3000, look's very clean This one is a bit cheaper- Gumtree Yamaha SRX6
